BASES ANNUAL CONFERENCE AWARD WINNER 2011

Hearty congratulations to Andy Galbraith on winning the prestigious University of Essex Poster Presentation Award held at BASES conference at the University of Essex from 6th-8th September.

Andy who is a Lecturer and Senior Technician at the Centre for Sports Studies, University of Kent submitted two pieces of research based on studies from his PhD which he presented as poster presentations. The research topics, which were worked on with undergraduate students as projects for their dissertations, were "Validity of critical speed and anaerobic running capacity measured using a GPS watch" and "The effects of different warm-up stretching protocols on critical speed and anaerobic running capacity". The abstracts from this presentation which was adjudicated as the best poster presentation at the conference will get published in a special edition of the Journal of Sports Sciences.

We salute Andy's achievement on winning such a prestigious award and for the pride he brings to the Centre for Sports Studies at the University of Kent.
