School Direct

The main aim of School Direct is to allow schools to recruit and select the trainees they want with the expectation that they will then go on to work within the school or group of schools in which they were trained, although there is no absolute guarantee of employment.

Loyalty discounts and funding for Kent graduates and their families

The University of Kent values its graduates and alumni and is pleased to offer two special schemes to assist with the cost of postgraduate study.

Students should decide which of the schemes below is more valuable to them but can then hold either the Graduate School Scholarship or the Loyalty Discount in conjunction with other awards, except where these awards offer full tuition fees and a UK Research Council equivalent maintenance grant.

Dr Sakis Pappous acts as moderator at sportvision 2012 conference

Dr Sakis Pappous, Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Sports Studies, University of Kent was recently invited to act as a moderator at the SportVision 2012 conference held in Copenhagen March 19th to March 20th.

The conference looked at areas such as Volunteering in Sport, Fitness Doping and Financing & Health.The plenary session was addressed by Mr Uffe Elbaek,

The Templeman Scholarship

The Templeman Scholarship will support a Kent graduate to undertake a full-time taught postgraduate degree at the University of Kent.
This scholarship will cover tuition fees for one year, and is open to full-time home/EU or overseas fee-paying applicants.

Centre for Sports Studies PhD student presents at the University of Montpellier

Brenda Atuona, PhD student at the Centre for Sports Studies, University of Kent made a recent presentation to the University of Montpellier's research group; Santesih. The topic of her presentation was 'Exploring Journalism Students Perceptions of Paralympic Athletes' which is also the proposal for her PhD thesis.

Congratulations to the students of Northgate High School on reaching the final stages of the competition "The Science of Sport-How to win Gold ".The competition which is run by the Physiological Society is open to all A level students in the UK & Ireland. It offers students an opportunity to create and conduct a research project in the area of sports physiology or sports science.
