Oli @ National series 2 and in the press
Hello
Last weekend I took part in Round 2 of the National MTB series at the previous world cup venue at Dalby North Yorshire. This round, like the first race was a category 1 UCI race (the world governing body) so as well as all the British guys, ten foreign riders had made the trip over on the hunt for ranking points and prizes.
If you describe the weekend in one word it would be 'wet' and that made it a test for Rob my mechanic as much as myself, as he got my bike prepped for the race after I trashed it over 2 laps of practice the day before. The weekend was also a suitable test for my Endura clothing, as i worked through a full kit bag.
In the race I got a decent start and sat in 3rd after the first lap, but feeling like i was not really firing on all cylinders and was lacking a bit of turbo on the steep climbs and really muddy sections. Over the next 5 laps I struggled a little but held it together to finish in 9th place.
The last two weekends have been disapointing as I have not got the finishing positions I normally expect from myself. But this is not a normal start to a year and coming back to full form is taking a bit longer than I would of hoped, but I am finishing races and moving forward. It may take a few more weeks but i will be back on the top step of these National races before long and giving all the young guns a good kicking,
Thanks for your support
Thanks Oli
