In August 2011 Oli Beckingsale broke his leg whilst competing in a World Cup cross-country mountain bike race in the Czech Republic. Only one week before this Oli's Olympic preparation for London 2012 had looked well on track as he recorded the best result for a British rider all year finishing 9th in the European Championships. Now, Oli has to overcome a mountainous challenge simply to make the starting grid of what would be his fourth Olympic final.

I just wanted to post a recommendation to watch the two episodes of 'Frontline Medicine' on the BBC iPlayer.  I reckon all visitors to this website will get something out of it.

For me, it were these things:

1. It's amazing what medicine these days can do to deal with severe injuries, such as missing legs.

2. It's amazing what medical improvements are made to improve people's life when body parts are missing.

3. Despite all these advances, they still don't come close to the real thing

4. Therefore: The human body must be even more amazing!

Last weekend it was National Champs time. It was my 13th senior champs and I have won the title 5 times in the past and was well up for grabbing another one.

Hello All

After the high of the Dalby World Cup, with the high finish (despite the mechanicals) came the low of the next round in Offenburg, Germany.

The legs had come round well and I was on the pace of the good guys, After 5 of the 7 laps I had worked my way into the top 20 and things were looking sweet. But then for the second race running I picked a slow flat, unfortunately it was a way to the pit and i had slipped back to the 50s. I got a few back but ended an unhappy 48th. taking an overall 31st into the Mid season break.
